Wild-type strain. Extensively used for genetic studies. 
Caenorhabditis elegans completes its life cycle in 3 days, developing from egg through 4 larval stages to adult. 
The worms can be aseptically maintained in the laboratory at 20° C on Nematode Growth Agar (item# 173520) using Escherichia coli (item# 155068) as the feeder host.
