Grades 9-12. Students create a portion of the chemical activity series and consider the practical applications of oxidation-reduction chemistry, such as sacrificial electrodes. They react 4 metals in a salt solution of the other 3 metals and observe the relative reactivity of each metal. Green chemicals (no lead or silver) and microscale materials make this activity an easy and safe alternative to traditional activity series procedures. For 30 students working in pairs.
