Grades 6–12. Get charged up about motors and electrical engineering. Design teams assemble a simple motor from a D-cell battery, wire, and a magnet. After experimenting with wire type (gauge and metal), number of wire coils, and magnets (quantity and type), designers enter their best models in the fastest motor challenge. Materials support 10 design teams.
